When trying to login into SQL Server, the error message “Cannot connect to the instance (InstanceName). Configuration system failed to initialize (system configuration)

When you run Control, it references the SSLIP to gain access to the database which is located within SQL Server. If the instance which contains the database is inaccessible, the SSLIP would load it, and Control can't recognize it.

High. Server is down.

An update one of the components of SQL Server is corrupt or timed out before its completion.

  1. Open Control Panel
  2. Open Add-Remove Programs
  3. Uninstall Microsoft .NET Framework Service Pack 2
  4. Reinstall Microsoft .NET Framework Service Pack 1
  5. Open Control Panel
  6. Open Administrative Tools
  7. Open Services
  8. Restart the SQL Server(InstanceName)and SQL Server Browser
  9. Start the SSLIP
  10. Start Control
