This issue is caused by an automatic update from Windows KB3102429 which causing issues with any Arial fonts utilized on Crystal Reports. This is a wide-spread problem that is affecting all computer systems and users of Crystal Reports and is not unique to Cyrious Control or SMS. Reinstalling the Arial fonts will correct this issue.

  1. Download the following TrueTypeFonts to the desktop of the computer unable to save a PDF or email a non corrupted PDF

  1. Right click on the font(s) (individually or as a group)
  2. Click Install
  3. Follow the steps to install
  4. Test to see if you can now save a PDF document

NOTES:

  1. If you are using terminal server with SMS or Control; Rebooting the terminal server may be required to apply the font change to the cache.
  2. You may also try uninstalling Crystal Reports drivers and re-install the correct version for the version of Control being used. Then re-install the fonts again.

If installing the fonts does not resolve the issue, you may uninstall Windows Update KB3102429 and hide it from future updates so it is not automatically re-applied. To uninstall Microsoft KB3102429.

  1. Go to the Windows Control Panel.
  2. Select Programs and Features.
  3. On the left, click View installed updates.
  4. Locate KB3102429 and uninstall this update.
  5. After restart of the computer, go to the Windows Control Panel.
  6. Select Windows Update.
  7. Locate the section labeled “xx important updates are available” and click the link to view all unapplied updates.
  8. Locate KB3102429 in the list and right-click on the update.
  9. Click on Hide Update. This will prevent the update from automatically installing again in the future.
