Windows 7 firewall will by default block a ping request

1. Go to Control Panel
2. Select Windows Firewall
3. Click the Advance settings
4. Select Inbound Rules
5. Select New Rule
6. Choose Custom Rule
7. In Protocol and Ports, choose Protocol: ICMPv4
8. Now click the Customize button
9. Choose Specific ICMP types
10. Check echo request
11. Click Next on through (you can name it Ping or whatever is appropriate)
12. Click Finish
