When you double-click on the Control icon, nothing happens.

The most likely causes of this error (in order of priority) are:

  1. A copy of Control is hung in the background.
  2. The user is not double-clicking properly/fast enough or the mouse if not registering the double-click.
  3. An error is occuring before the login screen is displayed but that error is hidden from the user.

Moderate. The user is down at the station.

  1. Check if Control is hung in the background.
    1. Open Task Manager
    2. Look for Control.EXE in the list of running tasks
    3. If found, click on it and click the “End Process” button to kill the task.
    4. Restart Control.
  2. To check if it is a mouse/input problem
    1. Click on the Control icon once to select it
    2. Hit the Enter key on the keyboard to launch it.
  3. If the problem still persists, check the Control Error Logs and the SSLIP Error Logs for any indication of a problem.
  4. If the problem still persists, Reboot
  5. If the problem still persists, check the System Event Logs for any hidden system errors.

This is most commonly associated with Control hanging when it was shutdown the last time. The window disappears from the screen before the program is freed from memory, so if an error occurs at that time it can be stuck open but invisible. Looking at the Control or SSLIP error log is a good place to start searching for the root cause.
