“Unable to locate RPC Server” when trying to print or email in Control.

The Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service is the mechanism Windows uses for one application to call into another. This is a core component in Windows and any restriction on the service will cause significant problems in Windows.

Never disable the RPS service in Windows. Doing so may prevent Windows from running or even booting up.

Normal. User is not down and only functionality within Control that's affected is emailing.

The Remote Procedure Call service has not been started or is disabled in the windows services menu.

  1. Restart the machine
  2. Open the Services console
    • Click on the Start button
    • Choose Run…
    • Type Services.msc and click OK.
  3. Locate the Remote Procedure Call(RPC) service
  4. If it is stopped, right click and choose Start
  5. Retry the action in Control.
