Reports generated in Control by default should use the local system's printer settings to determine which print mode will be used. For example, if your printer is set to print all documents in black and white then when printing a report from Control, we would expect the report to print in black and white.

Occasionally, a user will encounter a report (most often a custom report) that disregards the local printer settings including but not limited to color mode and/or paper size.

This can occur when in the creation or editing of a Crystal Report, the printer settings on the computer that the report is being created/edited on get saved with the report, causing a conflict with the end users printer settings.

To resolve this problem, the report should be saved with the “No Printer” option checked in Crystal Reports.

  1. Open Crystal Reports
  2. In the upper left hand corner, select File.
  3. Select Page Setup.
  4. In Printer Options, check the box next to “No Printer.”

  • At this point, you can save your document and check to verify that the issue is resolved.

With some printers, saving the report with “No Printer” may not resolve the issue. This has been discovered to happen on the following printers:

  • Konica Minolta Bizhub series
  • Ricoh Aficio MP/SP series

In that case, use the driver for the specific printer.

  1. On the PC with Crystal Reports, download and install the latest driver for the printer that will be used. (Cyrious techs: do this on CyriousCR)
  2. Open Crystal Reports
  3. Open the report (.rpt file)
  4. In the upper left hand corner, select File.
  5. Select Page Setup.
  6. In Printer Options, uncheck the box next to “No Printer.”
  7. Select the printer that will be used to print the report from the list.

  • At this point, you can save your document and check to verify that the issue is resolved.
