This is an old revision of the document!
Explanation
This procedure allows a store location to have two or more separate databases for access and is utilized via two or more v8 executable files on their desktop. All database paths are stored in the SSLIP upon making the change.
Procedure/Walk-Through
EXAMPLE
- Either create a new data folder for any new store databases, if necessary and rename it to its given name (i.e. “VancouverData”) or use an existing one that customer wants to use which has data already in it.
- In the SSLIP, make a copy of the “SMS” database group inside of “Database Administration” and direct the data path to the name of the database that each respective database will be using (i.e. “\\servername\cyrious$\sms\VancouverData” Rename the copied SMS group name to something like “SMS2”.
- Make a copy of the SMS shortcut onto the desktop and rename any shortcuts to their correct corresponding store database names, using a reference name that is recognizable to the store data (ex. Vancouver). Right-click on the Cyrious shortcut and insert a space after the datapath, then you have to add a “-logindatabase:SMS2” in the field box. Notice that the name of the database group being accessed through the Cyrious shortcut desktop switch is the same as the new SMS (copied) data group name that is stored in the SSLIP Database Administration area.
Note: If each store database is using separate report settings, then the smsstoredata information should be updated inside of the SMSData group as well with the correct .mdb file name***
